Can Steam and Xbox Gamepass (PC!) play together?

Title says it all.

Can I play with a friend when he uses the Xbox Game Pass Version and I host on Steam? I ask because he has never played a game like Stellaris, but I think he might like it with a solid introduction. So I dont want him to be upset when it does not work.

Any experiences with that?

I need an answer to this too.

Because yesterday we tried to connect. I use xbox game pass for PC, the other two use steam pc version. I cannot find their host. they cannot find my host. And the server ID doesn't work too.

Mmh -- ok that might indicate that there is no crossplay for Steam and Win10/Gamepass.

The console version of the game is an older version of the PC version, so no crossplay. It doesn't have all the DLC yet either.

Uhm i clearly stated that I talk about the Windows 10 Version in the Xbox PC Gamepass.

I know that the console version is a complete different game with way to many changes to work on a console.

I know there is cross play between steam and gog version

whoever is hosting would likely need to be on steam but i can't guarantee that cross play between steam and windows 10 version is a thing
