TL,DR: Game works fine at lower resolution windowed, but I'd prefer fullscreen (I like my graphics big and blurry). Is this being prevented by the game or my integrated graphics? Will integrated graphics every be supported, or is it considered a waste of dev time?
My native resolution is 1440x900, but my computer can't handle the game at that resolution. I get much better FPS at lower resolutions in windowed mode, but the windows are too small to comfortably read the text. In my experience most games allow me to run lower resolutions in fullscreen, so I can basically get a big blurry picture (I have very low standards). When I try to change to fullscreen at a non-native resolution, I get an artifacty black screen, and the "keep this resolution?" button, which I can't see, times out so I revert back to windowed mode. This makes me think that the game does support this functionality, but just not on my old hardware.
I see that you're recommending laptop users make sure they're not using integrated graphics, so I'm wondering if this is a limitation of the game or my computer. Is this something that can be patched for us poor integrated graphics users, or have I reached the end of my little laptops useful gaming life? Is future support for integrated graphics planned for Cities, or is it not even possible due to the games architecture (or is it simply not worth the development effort)?
I'm on a 2011 macbook air with Intel HD 3000, so I'm used to sacrificing resolution and detail for the sake of getting games to run (I completed skyrim, far cry 3, and borderlands 2 on this machine, so I clearly have incredibly high tolerance for crappy graphics on potentially beautiful games).
For the record, this game runs fine at low resolutions, even with my HD 3000 graphics. The only graphical or performance bug I've seen has been my inability to play in fullscreen at those low resolutions.
