To expand on the title, I'll give some context, I'm new to the game and it's my first playthrough and I'm the king of Ireland. I've now conquered Scotland (not all of it) and usurped the Kingdom of Scotland title.

But when I try and give the King of Scotland title to a family member who's already a vassal, he just becomes his own man and is no longer under me as a vassal. I've even given the title to my kids who don't have any holdings, and they still aren't my vassal anymore.

Is there any way you can make another kingdom your vassal, or is that just for duchies and whatnot.

am i basically ruined? cause I'm trying to make the empire of Britannia, but you need so much land for that and giving away Scotland is just gonna set me back on that quest.

So, is there any way I can still keep Scotland under me, or am I finished?

Never really understood the appeal of this game, but after playing it I'm now hooked. I'm on the free-to-play version with no expansion packs or DLC if that matters. I refuse to pay 180 pound for DLC for a game that's a decade old lol.

Thank you in advance.

I believe that you can only have kingdom vassals if you are an empire. You can hold both the Kingdom of Scotland and Kingdom of Ireland titles yourself though.
