You can choose the name from a list or give them other name out of the list.

King Jary, I suppose that is actually and for most countries we have it also in Spain, but are only litle restrictions.

I hope it's random. I wouldn't know what to name an 11th century Polish child. We could always edit it in the save game if absolutely necessary.

Hopefully, there will be a little check box - "name children" - in the options panel. It might be fun to name them the first few times, but annoying later on.

He mean that in Sweden you can't name your son for example Drugboy.:) Nice eh?:p

Why not all three? There could be a default choice, than a list of 'historical' alternatives, then at the bottom a little box for you to type in some alternative of your own.

Naming them wouldn't hurt the game, it would improve its capabilities! Maybe someone should rush to the official snowball forums and ask for this feature:)

The Official answer was that I wrote in my first post in this thread.

A list with historical names and the possibility of adding your own.

That is the answer I was hoping would be correct.

Didn't know that a parent in Sweden had a limited choice of names and was thus, frustrated in his imagination, but that would explain the thousands of Svens and Johans out there :).

Polish names in the XI century? Nothing easier: Mieszko, Boleslaw, Wladislaw, Kasimir, etc. (in fact just take the Piast genealogy and choose). But having the possibility of naming a son 'Drugboy' and eventually having him canonized by the Pope or Patriarch would really be something! ('Hail Saint Drugboy, saint protector of all minstrels, poets and all things weird, defender of the weak minded, blessed be thy name!):D .

Cheers!!

Laur

Well it is supposed the players won't like to call something like that to their son or daughter :D

The reason is that there are people who'd like to name their daughters 'Sumprema', 'R', 'Knight' and 'Strawberry' and their little sons 'Hitler', 'Xxxxxxxxon', 'Uncle Sid' and 'Idiot'. If these parents hadn't existed, the laws hadn't either. :D

BTW, browsing through the statistics, I just saw 11 couples named their sons Atle - the Scandinavian name for Attila. How cute.
