can you pause the game to give orders?

hi!
i havent bought this game yet but am thinking about it, but i,m a little put of
becase i dont know how fast the game progresses and weather or not you can pauseit to give orders ect..
the last stratagy game i had where one of the write-ups seid 'has a realtime clock to
create realism' ended up being a bit silly.
can anyone put my suspisions to rest.

I can put your fears to a rest!

Sure, you can pause the game anytime you want to hand out orders. Such as army movements, building orders, colonization, send traders and diplomacy.

You can also adjust the time-scale that fits your current activities. For ex: 1min=1month or 1min=8months, there are lots of different settings.
