Can you play a genocidal empire as a Synthetic ascended specie AND with assimilation of your enemies?

So, I came back to Stellaris for 4.0 after nearly 2 years without playing and as I normally do, I get wrecked while playing a genocidal empire (because they are fun and I hate federations). I also wanted to see how each of the ascension changed during that time.

The other night, I won a GA game as a Terravore going Cybernetics while almost eating everything in my way, including all 3 crisis.

After that, I wanted to go for a Synthetics genocidal so I picked Fanatic Purifiers. Sadly, they can't assimilate their enemies at all (to me it makes no sense as I cleanse their filfth from the galaxy to replace them with purity and perfection but it seems the devs do not agree with my vision ). Got wrecked in a game where we were 5 genocidal empires and where the local Determined Exterminator was a Crisis Aspirant by the time normally we should have seen the Great Khan emerge, if all mercenaries had survived that long.

Being badly surprised by the fact a FP can't assimilate enemies into Synthetics, I wanted to see if any of the other genocidal empire could do this. I do not think any can but after failing to find one, I turn myself to the forum for some advices. I got all DLC up to Toxoid. So it is possible the answer actually lies into one of those that came in the last 2 years or so.

While I wait for answers, I might take a look at the other genocidal empires to see what changed in the last 2 years

Can a genocidal necrophage that's gone synthetic still necropurge enemies into their (original organic) primary species and then assimilate those?

I assume that ascending into synth saves the mind, personality and so on, you only replace the body. And a filthy xeno after synthetization would remain a filthy xeno. Filthy xenos do not deserve to live and of course they do not deserve a perfect synth body designed only for the only chosen race. Fanatic Purifiers are a bit too... fanatic.

But probably it is not bad idea to add special homicidal civic for synths (something between Determined Exterminators, Driven Assimilator and Rogue Servitor), that wants to spread the idea of "flesh is weak, synths are superior" for all galaxy, but not only for your empire like other synths do.

I wanted to see if any of the other genocidal empire could do this.

Necrophage can be FP or even Devouring Swarm. I've played that build and that was super fun.

Necrophage is on my list for after I have done all genocidal empire once and won. Doing a Determined Exterminator at the moment and I struggle with Unity. Funny times to come for sure
Maybe for FP I should have went for Psionic instead of Synthetics, especially since a excavation site gave me the tech to unlock it.

I also got Rogue Servitors and Barbaric Despoiler on my list (because why not).
