...and also maybe not the 1.07 too. Have not been able to try it (everyone has jumped to the betas.)

Anyway, I get the following message when I try to join:

"Your version doesn't correspond to the hosted game"

I uninstalled my previous versions, and cleaned up any leftover stuff in my registry. I did a clean install of the NA version off my legal CD onto my Windows98 machine, then installed the 1.07 patch on top of it, then unzipped the 1April beta on top of that. I can play SP and get into Vnet just fine. I simply cannot join a game Either through Vnet or via IP.

Any ideas you may have would be most appreciated.

I expect most people are running with the newer April 3 patch...or should be if they're helping to beta-test...so you'll need both of the beta patches installed.

Thanks for your quick response. I was, however, running the same beta version as the host. He and I have played many MP games together over the last 4-5 months and are both fairly experienced MP players. We walked through the steps together (on ICQ) and still no luck. Just as another piece of evidence, I had the same issue with the 1.06 beta patch when that was current even though I was able to join a 1.06 game just fine.

Yes, we both ran a clean install, etc. Other players were able to join except me and one other. We were both rejected and dejected.

Let's set a baseline then...

Could you both (all three?) uninstall and then install to 1.07 (no mods) and see if you can connect. If so, add 1 beta patch and try agin. Connecting?

If so, add the next patch...

(Reminder...I can't support beta patches since they aren't cross-system optimised. I'll try, but they are only tailored to Johan
s personal computer right now.)
