Neither the space bar nor the keyboard Pause key pauses CK3 for me, playing on Linux. Shouldn't at least one of these work? Clicking the pause button with the mouse works fine, but is awkward.

I would have thought so, yes. Unfortunately I can't run this game on my Linux installation; the MacOS version is very similar and space bar works fine there though.
What distro is this?
Do you have any unusual sort of keyboard setup or layout?
