OK weird problem but its got me screwed.

I recently realized that i don't have the 1.02 patch so I set out to get it... I downloaded the english/german version from Paradox not realizing that is would change all the language files to German...

I then searched off strategy firsts site and found the english copy but when I tried to install it I got the message patch already installed and it shut down the installer. :(

so I uninstall and reinstall Victoria and try again... now the 1.02 istaller says that I have the german version installed and won't let me install the english patch.

yes I've tried reinstalling vicoria and redownloading the patch numerous times.

I look everywhere at file properties and everywhere I can find is says english (US) versions...

I was thinking I'd download the german patch and then use the german installer to install the english data files but figured I'd better check to see if there was a better solution first!!!

Please help !!!

Manually uninstall Victoria, then reinstall and you should have no problems.
The instructions on manually uninstalling can be found by following the hot link in the self help thread. The part you must do is get rid of the registry entries.

Look for both Strategy First ones and Paradox ones. ;)

tryied what you said and I still getting the same problem... the installer thinks I've got the german version of victoria installed but everything I see says I've got the english one..

manual uninstall and registry key delete didn't help the problem.

any other suggestions???

You must have missed one, please look again.
The reason I say this is that the only way it could know you had a german version installed before was if that info is in a registry entry.

found it! it was under an subfolder named Paradox instead of Strategy first like all the others... boy do I feel dumb... .... thanks for the help...

That's why I mentioned to look for both since the wrong patch you installed would have created the Paradox ones.
The reason is that SF writes their own installer while everyone else uses the Paradox one.
