cant apply patch

My game keep getting crash within half a min., up-till now it was working fine i have reached the year 1699(playing the grand camp. ).
i tried installing the update but got an error that game was not found ??
any help will be appreciated

Hi,
if you have bought the game from Steam or Impulse, then the patch should NOT find the game, since you get the patches straight from Steam or Impulse (in which case you should have a patched version already).
But if you bought a boxed version, or from Gamersgate for example, then you can apply the instructions found here:

Just see my posting somewhere on the first page

You can be sure that the patch is installed, if there's "1.06" in the upper right corner in the game mainmenu.

I tried as you said, the game says that i need to get that update(when checked from in game menu) i tried to apply patch as you said by downloading from that link but it still says game not found !!!
could this be b'cos i m running windows 7 ??
