Am installing CK+DV (from GamersGate) onto my laptop - it's a Dell inspirion 1525, 3gb ram, etc. running Vista home premium. The game appears to start, but hangs at "installing globals" and goes no further. So I have tried to read the forums looking for this problem, and saw the "change the avi file" but can't even find the avi file.

It's installed in the program files folder (the default).

Have tried running in compatible mode (XP (SP1 or 2?)) with no luck either.

Any suggestions?

Font gfx\fonts\arial8.bmp not found.

This is the result from the "debug" file, I get a message that says essentially that when I run it. If I "ignore" the message, the game hangs at "Installing Globals"

Also, not sure if this is relevant, but when I did the Alt-Tab-Esc to get out of the intro screen that was frozen, the game appeared to shut down, but there is still a "Crusader Kings" tab open in the taskbar and I can't make it go away.

Thanks in advance for any more advice...

Jim

If you get that message then either something is wrong with your download. Or you didn't install DV in the correct place, which is in the same folder as CK.

Have you already installed CK in C:\games ?

CK-DV = one file from Gamers Gate

Thanks for the quick response - I am only installing the one file from Gamers gate, the GG downloader appears to do it for me, I just pointed it to a c/games folder I created for this (and HoI2-DD-Arm..., which I am also having problems with, but only dealing with one issue at a time, and also would rather play CK/DV anyway... but that is aside from the point...)

Do I need to download something else to make this work?

I have ESET Nod-32, and it lets me download stuff - I just get a warning about do I want to let this get downloaded, etc. Should I shut it off and try downloading again? For a smaller file like this it wouldn't be too hard.

Again, thanks...

Jim

Crusader Kings and DV are two separate files, so you need to download and install two files, not just one.

First download and install Crusader Kings and then download and install Deus Vult.

It sounds like you only have downloaded and installed Dues Vult and not Crusader Kings.

Deus Vult is not a stand alone expansion, you need the orginal game Crusader Kings to.

Your GamersGate account should look like this

That explains it...

OK - I've notified Gamers Gate. I could swear I bought CK from them a few years ago - I don't remember buying the disk anywhere...

I will see if they have it in their files for me.
