can't install 2.2 patch for rome gold

it comes up with this message.

"C:programfiles/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis-Rome/rome.exe
an error occured while trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile failed; code 5.
Access is denied."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
You have the launcher open as you are trying to patch it. Windows will not allow an open file to be overwritten. As per the on-screen instructions, close the launcher then apply the patch.
