Can't Install EU2

I've had this game for over three years, and have enjoyed playing it immensely. I was screwing around trying to mod it and broke my mods. I decided to do a fresh install, uninstalled the game, and now I can't install it.

When I try to click on the cd, Install Shield tries to uninstall Civilization III. If I go into the cd and click on setup.exe, my computer freezes. If I use the Windows add/remove programs feature, the system freezes.

I'm using Windows XP, SP2 on an Athalon 1900+ with 256meg of ram.

Any ideas?

Well, for starters the SP2 is known to cause all kinds of problems. When did you reinstall your windows the last time?

Clear your registry, easiest to do by d/ling a registry healer program. Then go into MS-DOS Prompt and type the name of your CD drive followed by setup.exe. e.g D:\setup.exe

Hope it works.

Well, for starters the SP2 is known to cause all kinds of problems. When did you reinstall your windows the last time?

June or July, 2004.

Well, I followed the unstall directions, which say the same thing as I did last night. I also ran a registry cleaner, and swept out some 50+ EU2 entries.

When I clicked on my drive, same thing happens as in post 1, it tried to uninstall Civ 3. When I opened the cd and clicked on setup.exe, it tooks several minutes for the setup to come up. It's finished installing now.

When I try to run, I just get a black screen.

Okay, never mind. I installed the patch, and now it works. Yay!
