Can't install HoI2 on a slightly optimized XP system

Hi!

I have a computer running on a slightly optimized Windows XP. I've disabled several services in order to avoid unnecessary CPU load. The Install Shield doesn't seem to like this, since I get an error message: "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. The RPC Server is not available." I do have both RPC related services running, however. Does anybody know which services need to be running to be able to install (and play) HoI2?

NOTE: I don't hold Paradox responsible for this problem my own actions have caused. I you can't or don't want to help me with this problem, I understand completely.

Based on a google search it looks like you may have disabled DCOM server which is required by installshield. If you don't see it in your list of services it may have been deregistered as well as being stopped. Not sure how you would get it registered again. Apparently that message really means "the server I attempted to access using RPC was not available."

Thanks! Install Shileds seems to have pretty good support pages. Should've checked those first. If their tricks don't help, I'll check DCOM. I think have it disabled, but registred.
