Hello together,
i allredy tryed to install the Patch 1.2 but i receive everytime the following failure message:

Hearts of Iron 2 is not installed on your computer. Please install the game befor installing the update. The installation will exit now!
But i've already installed the Patch 1.1 sucessfully and the game works proberly on my notebook.

Is it right that the new corrections of a new Patch only works when i start a new game after installing of the new patch?

It would be nice to receive help from you.... thanks....

Did you rename the installation folder, move hoi 2 to a different folder or reinstall Windows after you initially installed hoi 2 + patch 1.1? These actions usually sever the link in the registry that the setup program checks to see if and where the game is installed.

As for your second question. In general, changes made to the executable or data files will be picked up for existing game. Exceptions are changes made to anything that is also incorporated in the save game file. In hoi 2, that includes tech teams, ministers, leaders, AI profiles, etc. If you want these changes to take effect, you must start a fresh game under the new patch.

It is always recommended to start a new game when you install a new patch.
However it is sometimes possible to continue a save game with a new patch and have the new features/corrections work for you.

To install the patch 1.2 I would first uninstall HOI2 following these instructions.
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=181594

Then do fresh instal from CD to default Drive and folder.
Then just apply the 1.2 patch.

EDIT: jpd types faster than me.

I get the same error, and I tried to install the 1.2 patch right after a default installation of HoI2. Is the 1.1 patch required first? Is there any known fix, such as editing the registry to point the 1.2 patch to the right directory?

Thanks,
