I appreciate the info. But I change tactics faster that you can spell out the whole word. How is a newbie suposed to know what 'IMG' is? Yes, I'm new at installing 1.07 and this is my first screen shot on forum. I'm gonna frame it! However, I certainly am not new at Barbarrossa. I think I will actually skip your advice and just do as I originally planned, and instal THIRD REICH (once I fix my 1.07 of course). This might be fun. Good luck saving Berlin. Is their anything in Forum rules about "Heil Hit...!"

I wasn't the one who said 'IMG', I explained everything clearly and concisely. If you are able to install everything, please do make an AAR of your attempt at playing the Third Reich Mod, I'd certainly subscribe.

Have you tried doing as Denniss suggested? i.e. running it as admin and having it installed outside Program Files folder. This works for almost everyone... well, you could be the exception which confirms the rule, of course :unsure:

You might be right (about the exception). I'll muddle it over after I get some sleep. In the meantime, throw me a crumb please and just tell me the correct file name format for save file. Shouldn't it be save_file or savefile

I note that it is southern_conquests and just think that the game can't save if save file is written as two words with a space between them. Too tired to rename it and test tonight. But your esteemed advice now will be enormously rewarded in the future.

Well, of all possible causes this surely isn't the right one. I've got plenty of save game files written in two or even more separate words and they run perfectly fine.

But honestly, I think I really have some very different thoughts about what Germany’s Grand Strategy must be to win at THIRD REICH. Different than I sense yours were as is evident from the building you did before the war. I’ll discuss this in detail when my time comes, but – as I said - I think everyone at Forum is anxious to hear the news from your Front. So I do not wish to delay you as I know your presence must be urgently needed elsewhere. Thank you for your help and suggestions regarding my frigging 1.07; and at least I got screen shots done.

My main problem was not having a proper strategy for Barbarossa. I have lacked clear aims throughout the AAR but have learnt some valuable lessons that I will use next time I re-try the mod all over again.

My savegames are in D:\Arsenal of Democracy 108 Beta 6\scenarios\save games so save games is the correct folder name. I don't think it got deleted from your program folder but may be missing in virtual storage. Running aodgame.exe with admin rights once should recreate it there if it got deleted soemhow during the update. Otherwise don't use the default installation path and you won't have issues with virtual folders.

Thanks for the info and THANK YOU to all who helped with other good advice - especially "open game as administrator".

I did that and v1.07 runs just fine.

HOWEVER, if I ctrl/esc to access Paint for working a screen shot then – upon returning to game - it picks up new problems like slider adjustments that no longer are incremental but jump in huge steps. So, I need to save file, exit and restart saved file as admin again to have all problems eliminated. While I’m OK with the tedium of doing that, I worry about any "reload penalties" that may be in a MOD like THIRD REICH – which is the reason I need to get a good working version 1.07.

I think the best solution is to:
1) accept that my Gamer'sGate v1.07 file is corrupted since normal installation does not work. :excl:
2) Simply get v1.07 from http://www.bl-logic.dk/Games/AOD/Patches/107.rar

I sure hope installing THIRD REICH MOD will be easier than dealing with my frigging v1.07! :unsure:

Yah, when the discussion evolves to "virtual files" it's over my head since I'm still dealing with the real problem – “reality” versus “virtuality”. However, I am always willing to learn more because not adapting killed the dinosaurs. (This is a slide to change topics!). As regards your comment, “proper strategy” should really be “winning strategy”; whatever that might be. But I agree, the first requirement is clarifying the specific aims.

I am following your game because – when it concludes – I hope to do my THIRD REICH MOD AAR. However, it starts with 20 typed pages presented in 10 parts (already done) which are set in the year 1935 and do nothing but clarify just what are the German High Command’s aims, based on some interesting character portrayal.

I wonder how readers will like it. :wub:

Hmm, do you mean alt-Tab for exiting while still keeping the game running? Try this way - I do this often and no problems of sort occur (well, apart from the fact that the map is no longer centered on the point where I left, but this is no problem at all).

By the way, do you know that you can take screens by just pressing "F11", don't you? The game will store them in your AoD main folder.

No, did not know that. Thanks. But I still want to be able to go back and forth from game and Paint to check the screen shots (make sure the crucial moment of action got captured - like the bomb splashes) before running game on. Just collecting the shots is a solution, but fixing my v1.07 so it runs properly is better as there are many other things appearing wrong I'm learning as I play my v1.07 on ADMIN:
1) I can promote leaders endlessly with no skill loss (gues I should not complain).
2) After 6 months of Spanish Civil War the Republicans and Franco have been sitting it out for a year now with the only action being one air battle (which Franco lost).
3) Now that the China-Japan war started I see that the message notifiers for sea battles use the aircraft icon, and for air battles it is the ship icon. Who knows what else is wrong.

That thing about game map being off from where you left it when maximizing game again has been in AoD as far back as Doomsday, best I remember.

I always use crtl/esc buttons to exit game and keep it running. Yah, upon returning the map is not where one left it. More, importantly, returning to game I lost my ADMIN status - and game will not save anymore. So - then - I need to Surrender, and open last saved file as ADMIN. OK, I'll alt/tab next time, and hit ctrl to get map repositioned.
