Hey... I've got this problem: I have tried to re-install HOI2, but a message pops up and says that the core files are corrupted. I've tried to uninstall but then i got the same message. Finally I tried to delete the game by erasing all the files manually but it still says that the game is installed and I sill can't re-install or uninstall  What can I do???

Try to clean the cd.
If that doesn't help copy the whole cd to your hd and try to run it (setup.exe) from there.

Yup. Sounds that at the very least the CD is dirty (I hope for you it's not actually damaged).

To clean, use a soft, dry cloth. Use gentle strokes from the center hole to the outer edges. Do NOT make circular movements while cleaning, and do NOT use chemicals of any kind, as that can damage the protective layer that has been put there during manufacturing.

I have followed all the steps in uninstalling as well, but when I try to reinstall, I only have the option to repair or remove.

No matter what option I choose I get a critical error report. This isnt related to my CD, as I get the same report if I use the windows uninstaller in the control panel (which suggests to me that it isnt really removed from windows, despite the removal in the registry)

Im at a loss here :(

I really like this game (have HOI and HOI2 as well) so Im a long time fan. Saddens me that I am not able to play

The reason I want to reinstall is due to the faulty editor. I messed up the game with it it seems

Welcome to the forum

Have you removed all the folders? Also the install shield folders?

Have you removed hoi2?

What happens if you select remove when you try to reinstall?

Welcome to the forum

Thx :)

I have solved the problem now.

I got an error message about the core file like JFeatherston did, only I had blank fields under File group, File and Error.

I couldnt find the files for the installer that you were supposed to uninstall, at first. But after some more searching this morning I finally rooted the little critters out. Aparently they had multiplied ;) I had them both in the program files folder and in the common files subfolder, but I have done a clean re-install now, everything works like a charm (besides having to wait another 7 hours before I get off from work, so I cant play DD right now ;) )
