hello everyone

I just install rome gold but each time when it's loading,
i get an error message. I think it's says the application had a problem with the runtime and have to stop.

Then I have that :

C:/Programfiles...

Abd finally it's says I have to ask the support team on the forum

Does someone already had this problem ? If yes how did you fix it ?

Seems like the install went badly. Try a complete clean reinstall.

Uninstall the game, and then manually delete the game directory - this is important. Reinstall Rome:Gold - choose a new directory like c:\games\rome instead of the suggested path. Download the 2.32c patch, and run it to install it; make 100% sure you point it to that same new directory above so that for instance the new rome.exe overwites the old one, the new romegame.exe overwrites the old one, and so on. Once done right-click on the game's desktop icon and set it to run as administrator, and to disable desktop composition.

hey ive had the exact same problem except i had a copy of eu rome and a downloaded copy from impulse, but this has helped me and i can get it to work so thanks guys

i didn't have time to re-install it so i just have a little question. Do I need to download the 2.32 patch thing because each patch i install do not work because of the files that doesn't want to overwrite

You have to close the game launcher (rome.exe) and indeed the game (romegame.exe) before applying the patch, as Windows won't allow active files to be overwritten.

Ok I am back with my problem. there is a good news and a bad news... The good news is it work !!!! I have been on the menu !!! But the bad news is that when I clicked on single player the game crashed. I ve got a error message that says that something didn't work anymore. Than on the computer menu, There were a problem with the colours the sizes of the icons and the mouse. I had to re boot my laptop. Why my game crashed like that ???

What version and checksum do you get? They should be on the main game menu, if not you need to start an MP game as host to see them there.

In the main game menu click on "multiplayer", "host", then "host" again - the version and checksum are in the right-hand pane next to the map.

Or you could open your Rome /logs/setup.log file in Notepad and search for "checksum" in there.

I can't go on multiplayer because it would crash. When I go Rome (I supose the folder) I don't have the /logssetup.los thing. I only have the icon of rome, the community icon and the uninstall icon.

No, that would be the Rome section of the start menu. Are you familiar with Windows Explorer at all? Click on MyComputer, and use double-clicks to navigate your way to the directory (folder) that Rome installed in - by default it would be something like c:\program files\paradox interactive\europa-universalis-rome\ . Under that would be \logs\ and in there in turn you'll find a setup.log file - double-click on that and it will open in Notepad; hit f3 and enter Checksum to search for.

Sorry I am only 13 years old. I am not great for informatic. So my checksum is 2.32C (SWBL). Oh and EU rome gold is not on paradox. That's strange I didn't touch anything.... I on program files/disney something/EU Rome.

OK, that checksum and version are fine. Not sure about the "disney" thing though ...

Go to that same location now, and right-click on the file romegame.exe . In the right-click menu choose to run it as the Administrator user, and to Disable Desktop Composition (which is under Properties - Compatibility).

Ok the administrator but I don't have it (except if I need to type it but beside I don't have it selected. If you see what I mean) But I'll try to type it. For know I am goign back to school so I have to wait a bit (at least until the week-end)...

What Windows do you have? Is it XP, Vista or Win7? The things I mentioned in my last post do not apply to XP, and the problem must be elsewhere.

I don't understand. Which of those is the game installed under? Under which version of Windows are you having the problems you complain of?
