Can't start a scenario

Hi folks!

I newly installed EUII (German edition), patched it with 1.8 and 1.8beta. Afterwards I installed AGCEEP. When installing it, it said, that there is no registry entry and so I had to choose the installation folder manually. My problem is the following:

I start EUII or AGCEEP, then I choose the grand campaign and a country to play with. When I want to confirm by clicking "START" the programm shuts down. As mentioned it makes no difference between EUII and AGCEEP.

What can I do?

I now deinstalled EUII, erasured all remaining files and installed EUII a second time. I did not use any patch or user-mod and still face the same problem. I can start EUII and can choose a scenario but when I want to start it the programm simply shuts down.

My configuration: XP SP2, ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, 512 MB RAM

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.
