Hi,

Bought the gam EU in Sweden. Installed ok, but then when I tried to run the game NOTHING happened. Downloaded and installed patch 1.08 SE-version. No I get the message 'EU CD not in drive' when I try to run the game.

Ive contacted Vision park support who said the would realy my questions to Paradox. Ive also contacted Paradox directly, but no reply!

Im now thinking about returning the game to the store were I bought it. It really stinks buying a new game that doesnt even start!!!

Ive had no problems with other games. Im using a Gateway PIII 500, 128 RAM, Windows 98, nVidia TNT2 32 Mb graphics.

I've never had a problem with any of my Gateway PCs over the years. Then again, I reformat them right out of the box and reinstall everything the right way before use. ;)

There have been reports with some of the CDs put out by Strategy First not working with certain CD-ROMs. What kind do you fellas have?

The white dot of death!!

I have a Toshiba laptop. I use several drives with differnet OS's but the same hardware. The stupid thing works under Win98 SE but not under Win2K (of course my game machine is not the laptop and it doesn't work on it (Win2K don'tcha know)). I really think it has to be the Copy Protection. To think you buy the game and its some stupid additional, completely useless piece of code that makes the game crap out!! The cure can be worse than the disease...

On a happier note the game was great on the laptop!

Hi again,

So obviously Im not the only one whove had this problem. That you can install the game but not run it.

Howcome I havent heard anything from Paradox about this? Ive written them several times with no reply.

Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this. It would be nice to be able to play a game Ive bought!!

Try this as a last resort

Some cd players won't work properly with the copy protection Paradox used. Basically, there are errors intentionally left on the cd to thwart illegal copy attemps (and unfortunately, legal ones as a result). Certain drives will attempt to read and reread the areas on the cd with the error ad infinitum in an effort to get the info. Other cd players give up after a few tries. There are programs on the web that can process the EXE file and try to remove the error check. One is 'Unsafe disk 2.05'. You will still need the disk in the drive to play once you run it, but it will stop the error check. Why this isn't illegal is because you still cannot make a copy of the original cd, as safedisk will still prevent that.

ok, here goes. The problem with the white square is for the US version only and it is related to the copy protection that Strategy First is using, SafeDisc. There seems to be incompatibility between certain CD readers and that protection scheme. You should contact Strategy First's support with this issue (support@strategyfirst.com).

Jon, your problem is harder to pinpoint. Can you tell me which version you have of the game? Is it the Swedish only or is it the multilingual version with Swedish, Norwegian and Danish?

Hi,

I have the same problem as Jon.

Bought the game, installation fine, intro worked just fine but after that it returned to windows.

Downloaded version 1.08 but still returned to windows.

Don´t know what to do which is sad because it sounds like a mighty fine game.

Must be a hardware problem because the game worked on an older pc.

I have the multilingual version (Norwegian, Swedish and Danish).

Hope you find a solution - Patrick.

Patric,

As far as I understand I have the Swedish version of the game. The Cd shows as 'EU_Swe'.

Installation works seemingly fine. When I try to run the game it looks like its about to load but then it just returns to windows.

So I downloaded and installed påtch 1.08 Swe_No_Dk. No when I try to run the game I get the message 'EU CD not in drive'

Any good ideas Patric. Would be a shame to have to return a game so well spoken of.
