Hi,

I'm trying to rapidly switch and order units to go to enemy provinces rather than slowly select them one by one. This worked perfectly for several years. However, 'v' no longer works. And only works for siege overview.

I don't know if the keybinding changed, but whatever the case is, it means I can't rapidly tell individual armies in the same province to go to X province to do a carpet siege.

I used this guide a while ago:

I have tried verifying integrity of the game and using no mods. This happens whether I'm in a save file or in a new game.

According to the wiki v is to build units, or when selecting more than one unit, to Deselect 1 unit

Is that an old video? Perhaps the interface has changed since then.

That page is from 1.24, it's really old and hopefully will be updated.

Regardless, if the keybinding has been changed, I'd love to know what it is. Going back to the slow method of clicking units one by one is tedious.

Update on this.

I asked Zlewikk (the user in the video) about if he had similar issues. Apparently some keyboards are bugged and have it set to 'esc'

I just tested this out and I can now use rapid carpet sieging. But would like to keybind it back to V if possible, I just can't find the dedicated button for it.

IIRC there is no facility in this game to remap keys. I'm sure the User Mods forum folks can help you with that though!

AFAIK the default shortcut changed from v to esc recently. Users with an existing shortcuts.txt, keep the old keybinding, but if that file is deleted, broken or reset, you get the new shortcut.

Since a few versions there is a way to change keybindings. There is a button in the bottom right of the screen for this(below the minimap)

I reinstalled Windows 10 a week ago so this seems to be a case.

I have checked this file out and this seems to be the solution. You can find the shortcuts.txt in \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV - If this thread is helpful to anybody else, the required change is here:

Code:
"remove_unit_from_selection_button"="ESCAPE"

Simply change 'ESCAPE' to 'v' and now it should work.

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate this.
