I'm sooooo screwed. :D

This is a nice mess you made :D
Though I am amazed you managed to actually gain independence. Quite a feat, even though it is due to the Brits being committed to war with China.

Couldn't you have switched to rebels though? So you could continue making the mess? :D

Actually, the Qing war ended a couple of weeks before I started the play. I was incredibly lucky.

I could have switched to the rebels. In fact I might still. But it’s 1 o clock here now, so that will be for later. If. :D

I tried to play South Africa in a multiplayer game (other two people playing Prussia and the US). I went bankrupt instantly and got stuck in a war between Britain and the Netherlands. I basically occupied the entire Dutch East Indies, but Britain wouldn't send a peace offer to the Dutch. I couldn't build any industry because all my reserves had been emptied and even after Prussia took on my debt, I couldn't do anything.

Yeah, that definitely suck. Really, no country should be balanced so it is more or less doomed for bankrupcy as SA is.

We're on! New government, new chances to reform the country! We're weak, so we need to be careful. First up, reform some, I guess. :)

New law, good! Almost killing my economy for trying to industrialize, not...

New law! I also realized what I really needed were more troops, as we're about 3-4 units behind Oranje and Transvaal, and we really want them. But alas, I was too late.

New law!

We are in the red even with no construction. So I guess I should go for bankrupcy... But I can't, as I need the military buffs to take on Oranje, and possibly Transvaal... Cozying up to Portugal now.

Best of luck to us!

New law!

I feel this could've gone better...

Sigh.

We've struck gold! But we're still not making money even with no construction. We're basically stuck.

I basically can do nothing here. I think this game is over. :(

At least you made Oranje happy,. The 10% of your non-exiting budget sure helps a lot :D

did you try to conquer them (Oranje) in the 1st year after building a few barracks and make the debt on weapons ?
I guess I could go back to an earlier save and try? :)

Oh, massively. I discovered a bit late that the revolution somehow had reverted my army to the lowest unit type. Line infantry would be better, no? :D

So let me get this straight: you were, as the Cape, lulled into a false sense of security about the Boers and their weak and very rich lands, decided to invade, and got your rear end served to you on a silver platter by the commandos?

Man, and people complain this game doesn’t deliver an authentic 19th Century experience. Well done Paradox!
