Carolus Rex - Karl XII

I don't know which was the first recorded use of that way of referring to him. But that is not a name he got, he *was* Carolus Rex after the death of his father. Or am I missing something here?
 
Well, his name was Karl ('Carolus' in latin) and he was king ('rex' in latin) so when you referred to him in latin (like for instance 'Carolus Rex Vivat' 'long live King Charles' or whatever, I don't know latin) he was called Carolus Rex. Just like his father before him I guess. I'm happy to try to answer any other questions you may have about old Karl.

ahhhhh, Well I guessed Carolus was Karl, but Rex I didn't know that it was King in latin! Thank you for explaing this, I've always been curious about the name. :)

All swedish Karl called them self Carolus Rex. And i have heard that rex is male of Regia. that is King Karl = Carolus Rex.
All swedes knows of Karl XII and Karl X Gustav.
They where great. any thoughts ?

I personally prefer Karl XI instead of both of them. :)

I like all of them. But Karl XII wouldnt have been in that position with that magnificent army if it had not been for his fathers workalholic-ness.
