"I have resolved never to start an unjust war but never to end a legitimate one except by defeating my enemies"

Firstly, thanks for reading this AAR. By clicking on it I assume you're interested in it. This will be a fairly short AAR, based on one of my favorite times in history, the Swedish Great Power Era. My own interests in this specific time might be slightly national-romantic, but even so, this was a time of great men and even greater military accomplishments. It'll be written from the perspective of Charles himself, and I intend to roleplay to the best of my abilities. I'm going to make decisions based on the viewpoint of a young, stubborn warrior king. While the Great Northern war marked the decline of Sweden as a great power, I hope I can succeed were Carolus didn't.

Update?? It looks good, and I love Swedish history, BTW Carolus Rex, did you get that from Sabaton?

Will you be using any mods?

No.

It's the Latin name of Karl XII. Sabaton's awesome though, even if I prefer a bit more thrashier metal. I've been sick the last couple of days, and have had a lot of things keeping me occupied, hence no update. I will update both this and my Oyo AAR tonight though.

I look forward in following along. Good luck. Here's hoping you'll succeed. I enjoy lost causes.

This looks to be interesting, I'll be following this with (a word that means interest but isn't interest because I've already said that word during this sentence)

Prologue - The Background of the Great Northern War

The war had it's roots in an offensive alliance between Fredrick IV of Denmark, August II of Saxony-Poland and Tsar Peter I of Russia. The Danish goals was to crush the local power of the House of Holstein-Gottorp, closely related to Sweden, and if possible, regain control of the provinces of Skåne and Halland on the Scandinavian peninsula.

In his attempts at gaining allies, Fredrick IV turned to King August II of Poland, who had ambitious goals of creating a large, Eastern European empire. August's plans of conquests was initially aimed towards the Ottoman Empire, but since the international situation removed August any hopes of gaining control of any Ottoman land, he came to turn towards Sweden.

The third part of the alliance was Tsar Peter I, who was in the beginning hesitant towards joining the alliance, but after being put under a lot of pressure from Poland and Denmark he joined the coalition.

They preyed on a country with a young and inexperienced king, who would spend most of his life, and his entire time on the Swedish throne, at war.

Subbed - looks interesting, having read the wikipedia article now, and played it a little. Sweden's position is a knife-edge, but is perfectly winnable. Is your young stubborn warrior king going to have an intuition to stackwipe, or will he be prioritizing his enemies' humiliating battles?

Change of plans, I'm gonna use Death and Taxes. Composing the update right now.

No update. What went wrong??? And this was one of my favortie wars to try out in EU3.
