I'm playing a game with an archmaage currently,but even though i've cast both agile mind and experienced mind spells,casting speed doesn't improve.

Is this working as intended ? Is natural +casting speed of the archmage perk conflicting ?
 
Hmm... another poster noted that he could cast the Create Great Artifact spell in a single turn with the Archmage, Exp mind, Agile Mind, and Mind of the Ancients all active. So, for some people they do stack.

The time listed in the spell book is the current time to cast the spell, not the base. Would that explain your issue? Or check your current spell cast times and compare with some of them in the wiki? The wiki is generally accurate, I think...

I want to point out that "Create Great Artifact" is bugged if you have all casting speed spells active. You'll end up being unable to cast any spells as well as being unable to remove CGA from your casting queue.
 
I don't know what you mean by "if you have all casting speed spells active" but I play as an Archmage and I have Agile Mind and Experienced Mind and I have no problems with "Create Great Artefact". Is there yet another spell?
 
Yes, there another one with +150% casting speed. If you have the character perk for 20% faster casting that gives you

20% from Archmage perk
30% from Experienced Mind
100% from Agile Mind
150% from Mind of the Ancients
for 300% increased (400% total) casting speed, which lets you cast CGA (4 turns) instantly. This, as pointed out, makes the game bug out horribly.
 
Was it taken out with Armageddon or a hotfix? I haven't gotten it in the last few games I started, but I remember having it after I downloaded 1.14. If so I hope they fix it and put it back. It was a damn useful spell when it wasn't making my game unplayable with Create greater artifact.
 
Mind of the Ancients is not a Divine Spell, but must be found in a monster lair. I've only ever found it in the new "super-monster lairs," like the Sorcerer's Tower or the Old Forest. I found it after I'd researched every possible spell, so it's not in the normal tree.
 
Alright, so I decided I really wanted to know how getting "Mind of the Ancients" works. I used a memory editor and hacked into the code to make it so I could grant a unit infinite movement and attacks. I then sacked the map a total of three times. I had to restart it a bunch of times as I couldn't get a flying unit early enough to be able to hit every position.

Assuming what you said about MotA being un-researchable, I hit every plane and every node.

On my three tries I only got MoTA once and made a few other observations. I've concluded the following:

  • All treasure nodes are randomly generated with the map and what they contain is setup on map creation.
  • The game has a short list of mega spells like MoTA and they are seeded into Planar Boss spawn points at random with Junk Artifacts, and occasional heroes.
  • You only get some, possibly even only one, of the mega spells per game seeded onto the map.
  • Of the heroes you can get via treasure nodes, only the Elder Witch is Legendary, the rest of the Legendary heroes are unavailable via nodes.
