Do we have any info on how Stellaris will handle CB's (or whatever they are called in the future).
I can imagine it being similar to the EU4 system, with planets instead of provinces. Personally I would prefer it not to go down the usual 4X route of ''Declare war, conquer everything''.
On a similar note, could there be a federation vote mechanic to settle disputes, such as, two factions in a federation argue over a planet so the fed as a whole votes over who gets it.

I'm glad you started this because I am very interested in how they will do this.

It disappointed me when I saw 'fabricate a claim' in the notes from the German video the other day. It's the future after all, surely we have moved on from some guy spending a to-be-defined period of time to arbitrarily tell us that said land could be ours.

I hope CBs are harder to come by - certainly much harder than EU4 where I can pretty much conquer anything I want if I am militarily strong enough.

I would also like to see some federation negotiation/sanction possibilities.

And clear red lines, we definitely need some of them. Try to invade France nowadays (purely an example) and you'll find yourself up against more than their traditional allies.

But this is space between completely different species, in a new age of new discovery. There are no traditional boundaries when new things are discovered, especially when they are owned by what many may regard as animals

Indeed, you might even have aliens that are too hostile for diplomacy and civilized agreements.

And the ones that are, may have a different idea of what constitutes honor and commitment.
Heck, declaring war to take a system may be the 'proper' way to fabricate a claim...

Indeed but then why do we need to fabricate a claim?

Heck i'd be happy for a cross-special (phenotype?) CB, I'd be happy for species to be initially hostile to new species encountered and for colonial disputes...

But when everyone's coloured and settled and you know who you can and can't negotiate with (another CB perhaps?) surely advanced species can arrive at something more realistic than fabricating a claim.

Extrapolating from human experience and judging by the sound of the game this game will involve groupings and federations and this game is surely the time for Paradox to deliver sophisticated multi-party diplomatic options rather than I sent person X there for a few weeks and now I claim it.

Granted it might not stand for the early game where you basically have a colonisation CB but for the mid to late game...
