I have seen a report that the exe file is changed in the steam version, and that replacing it with the GG version fixes it... can anyone confirm that?

(if that is true, then the problem could be with the steam update mechanics somehow)

I will attempt to confirm in the next couple of days. I have friends with the GG version and I have steam so it can be checked. I wouldnt doubt that the exe was changed for steam because when you launch the steam version from the exe in the game folder, it starts steam up first before the game loads.

I have 100% confirmed that the exe is the issue when it comes to the version issue between Steam and GG. I also note that the GG version of the exe is only 5.64MB while the steam version is 5.98. The difference when changing the steam .exe to GG is only that steam does not load when you lauch the AOD.exe file directly from the file. I have not attempted to load the game directly from steam when doing this.
