How is that big number in a Center of Trade calculated? What does it mean? It is NOT the sum of Trade from each province in the CoT which is usually much lower.

For instance: 40(1)

If I total up the trade (number in small circle to the right of that province's commodity) of all the provinces I get 15 and the 1 Ducas I get per month IS correctly calculated, but why is that 40 there? Why shouldn't there be a 15 there? Why is there a difference of 25?

P.S. playing the Fantasia scenario ae Eire.

not sure about this, but doesn't the centre gain 5 for each trader currently residing in it, thus, the 40 could be explained by you having 5 traders in the area.
5*5=25, (income from traders.)
25+15=40 (income from provinces and traders.)

When the game is first started or after loading a savegame the total CoT value is severly messed up. Run the game for a little while and will show the correct value.

btw, which CoT is that that only has 15 in value ??

CoTs

I think it means the following:
In the case of 40(1): 40 means the total amount of trade in the CoT (the sum of the production (number on the right in provinces) from all the provinces trading in this CoT. 1 is the amount of trade earned by your traders: total amount of trade*(number of your tradersin this CoT/20)*your trade technology.

I don't think it's the 5 per trader deal because I have another game where the big number is 153 (i.e. 153(30)) but totalling the 17 provinces in the CoT I get 98; I have 6 merchants in the CoT (monopoly) and no one else has any. Anyway, those 5 per trader are a yearly income while the 30 sited above is monthly - why would a monthly income value be mixed in with a yearly one?

I've seen the number in parenthesis messed up when you load a game but the big number never changes between loads and it doesn't get fixed while playing.

So, no answers?

Hmmm... the money you get from the COT depends on your trade level... like when you have level 3, you only get (was it, i think) 34%. When you have COT worth 100, have a monopoly there and no-one else, you get 34% of 100= 34 per year.

As an example, start up the Grand Campaign as Portugal; the big number for the CoT of Tago is 135, right? It's always this number when you start up the Grand Campaign as Portugal; however, if you add up trade values of all 14 provinces in the Tago CoT (you can see them listed when you hold the mouse over your merchant or count them on the board by going to each province individually) it adds up to 51 - that's a difference of 84.

ok, tried the fantasia setting and the problem seems to be this;
colonies or provinces producing a small amount of trade sometimes report slightly erroneous values, 4 instead of 3 or 2 instead of 1. when they increase in size they usually start reporting a the correct number. however, this only explains the phenomena in small CoT's.
(try starting the fantasia campaign and slowly adding colonies. there is usually a small discrepancy between the reported value of the new (small) colonies and the CoT value.)

P.S. Note, that I'm not saying that at the end of each month you don't get the correct amount of Ducas, I'm just saying that the first number on the CoT has no meaning that I can see - it's always much larger that what it supposedly is suppose to be.
