So, starting in 1000 AD, I as a Chalcedonian Byzantine (now Roman) Empire managed to prevent the Great Schism by holding all five patriarchies and anointing a Greek Patriarch Supreme. Makes sense, right?
However, the year is now 1173 AD and not once has a Crusade event triggered. What gives? Supposedly, even if no major Christian sites (e.g. Rome, Jerusalem, France) are threatened, Crusades should start, at the very latest, by the late 11th century. Sure, we're Chalcedonian, not Catholic, but it still says that the Patriarch Supreme can call Crusades. Is this because the Greeks prevented the Great Schism and not the Latin folks?
I should note that jihads do exist by now and are definitely used.
