The new Dithmarschen flag makes absolutely no sense in the context of EU4. It was a CoA imposed on the city by Holsteinian conquerors way after 1444, and it shows a Holsteinian Knight.

Using the arms of Heide or another important town of the Peasant ''league'' would me much better!

Yes we know. Problem is actually finding a proper one. There are some descriptions around but nothing tangible enough to go on.
Most of the local emblems today are actually also tied to the post conquest era and aristocratic control.
The current one was adopted because it actually does represent the entire region even if it's too early.
Feel free to make concrete suggestions for change :)

Hello! Well, natural that it's hard to come by with a flag for a peasant republic, given how little heraldry one such state produces by default. I did appear to see a pattern as a i searched for info on the ''Bauernrepublik Dithmarschen''; Mary of Nazareth (yes, that one), as it was believed she granted them victory in the battle of Hemmningstedt. Pretty much everything i found, from a 1500s seal to a 21st century romance ( which Amazon really thinks i'm interested in now :p ) decipited her.

A flag that i happened to see a few times was that of of an icon of Mary in a dark blue field. Which makes sense given her importance to the peasants in the region. Of course it could be just grasping at straws, but it's better than having the emblem imposed by the Republic's most mortal enemy! Also am aware that it could be innacurate for the timeframe, but again, it's better than the modern flag. I dont have the artistic skills to make a good mock up (Drawing humans on paint is a big no-no for me, haha) , but i trust the skilled artist at PDS can do something good

I also ran into Mary but I found no pictures of what she would actually have looked like :) Could you link me to the flag you found?
