Is this possible? I want to change my username to keep uniformity across platforms.

I unlinked my steam account, and created a new one account and linked my steam account. But I can't log into the new one as it's been automatically merged.

Please help with this - I'm severely OCD and I can't cope with having a different username!

It is not I'm afraid, we only change names if they violate our rules. Or, as I've seen happen, you accidentally put in your password or real full name ><.

I'd like to suggest a reconsideration of this rule now that the Paradox Launcher/cross play is coming.

I want to use the Paradox launcher because I like all my stuff to be in one place and away from Steam, but my name here isn't my usual gaming name for multiplayer and it would create a bit of silly confusion within my friend group when we want to play multiplayer.

My name on here is my display name in the PDX Launcher. An option either to unlink the two, create a display name or preferably change forum name ourselves would be appreciated.

I have also found myself looking for a way to change my forum name, since this is name is one that I don't use anywhere anymore, except here, because I'm forced to.

It would be nice to see it implemented so that we could do so. If there is worry about people changing names frequently, could always make it so you can only do so like, once a year.

The username I have for this website is one I don't use for anything else anymore, and it would be nice to be able to switch it so its the same as what I use basically everywhere else these days.

I no longer identify with the name I currently have on Paradox forums, and would rather it be changed.

I don't see a reason why name changes - even through support tickets - would not be supported. XenForo supports the functionality by default, and the Paradox account is identified by the email address.

Please also note that this issue disproportionately affects trans and queer individuals, to whom deadnames can be a point of trauma.

We are aware of that situation, but the fact is that a user name change is in practical terms not possible once a user has made forum posts, due to the complex interaction with non-XenForo data structures used in the forums (for example, the avatars and game icons). XenForo itself is not the issue; in fact the same was true with the previous forum software.

All that can be done is to abandon this account and start a new one with a new user name.

That sounds like a somewhat trivial technical issue to solve, but even introducing an optional "display name" field would help a lot.

Otherwise, I have to go make a whole new email account just for Paradox forums?

If it was trivial, obviously we would have resolved it by now.

If you want to use a different user name then you'd need a different Paradox account, yes. It can use the same email as this one, all you'd have to do is change this account's email to anything else first, even a bogus one.

Not a great workaround for security reasons, but it could at least be workable, were it not for the fact that I cannot change my account's email address.

Whether trivial or not, there's clearly some need for name change or display name functionality.

That did finally allow me to change email address. I did not realise that panel existed, because there is no obvious link to go there from the forum.

I'm curious, by the way, how the "technical impossibility" of changing usernames factors into these special cases mentioned earlier:
we only change names if they violate our rules. Or, as I've seen happen, you accidentally put in your password or real full name
