I'm playing a very interesting game, now that I've sorted out some issues. However, I'm having a slight problem, in that the Italian AI has a tendency to arbitrarily declare war on the Soviet Union when I'm least prepared for it - even though there are absolutely no Italian units anywhere near the SU. In the past two savegames, it always managed to declare war between June and July 1941, no matter what - but this didn't matter as Operation Barbarossa was already in place by then. Now, playing as Germany in August 1940, I have most of my forces attacking India from Persia, so am looking for a way to block the Italian AI from declaring war. Is there some line in the saevgame or in the AI files where I can temporarily prevent Italy from declarign war for a few months.

I'd say a raising of ITA-SOV relations and lowering of SOV beligerence should probably do the trick... I'm no expert at the AI side of things though.

I don't want to ban Italy from my alliance in order to prevent war with the SU. It would presumably take ages to get the influence-points up to +200 again. Also, I don't know exactly how to influence Italy's relationship with the SU in such a short time - I suppose I would have to edit some line in the savegame file or something.

Just had a thought - I could just use the acceptall command and enforce a nonaggression pact between Italy and the SU. Of course, either country could throw off the pact at some stage but it would be a good temporary measure.

That reminds me. I set up the Molotov-Ribbentrop nonaggression pact as usual in August 1939, but the SU cancelled it a couple of months later, after taking over eastern Poland, presumably because I'd had already allied with Romania as Germany, so that the SU couldn't take those 3 Romanian provinces. I then felt obliged to force the SU to declare war on Finland and the Baltic States in order to ensure historically standard events. I was wondering if, in future CORE patches, that the SU could still be made to carry out the usual invasions and keep the M-R Pact in place, even if Romania is in the Axis.
