Are patronomics completly hardcoded? As a Portuguese national I have always been bothered by the nonsensical names they come up with by just adding -es at the end of names. As a rule of thumb it works but there are many exceptions.
I suppose i could deactivate it fully and change names with and on_birth trigger and adequate conditions.
Here are some examples that come to mind
Monis comes from Monio
Pais comes from Paio
Viegas comes from Egas
Mendo comes from Mem
Fernandes comes from Fernão
Gonçalves comes from Gonçalo
Peres comes from Pero
Froilaz comes from Froila
Esteves comes from Estevão
Ianes comes from João
There are indeed more but I would need to dig into genealogies to come up with correct derivations.
*Pedro/Fernando/Mendo/Menendo along with other names are probably later relatinizations of the very distorted language our people spoke at the time
