Hello ive just bought this game and i wonder if it is possible to change the screen resolution to 1280x1024. I cant seem to find how to do it? If it is possible let me know how, thank you.

Hello and welcome to CK!! You can't change the resolution in game, you have to open a file and edit the resolution in. In your main CK folder, look for the settings.txt file. Open it with notepad or what have you and you'll see 3 lines of information. To change your display to 1280x1024, you want to make it look like this:

MUSIC_ON
You can, obviously, turn the music off here as well. When you load up CK, the display will look off center, but that will just be the menu and loading screen. The game play is fine.

Hello thanks for your reply. I did try that using notepad but it wont let me change anything, it keeps coming up ' Cannot change path to the game file etc '. I wonder if there is any other way? If not not to worry thanks anyway.
The settings.txt file may be read-only - it is in my installation. In that case, take off the read-only attribute first and you should then be able to edit the file.

In Windows XP you would rightclick on the file then select properties and have several fields that you can mark, like read-only or hidden.
Hello i think i know the reason why i cant change the txt file. Because im using Vistas it causes problems with games setup in the Program Directory, like when i download zip files etc. So to be able to change the game resolution i will need to reset the whole game in the main root C Directory, like i did with some of the other Paradox games when i had to download Beta files. I ll try that later on thanks anyway.
Ive finally sorted it out i had to move the whole game on to my root C Directory to make any changes and it does look a lot better now on a higher resolution. Is the 2.1 Beta patch the last patch out for this game? Hope to have an answer. Also do you need it for the game? Thanks for any replies.
Yes, it's the last and latest patch. You don't need it for the game, but it fixes several problems and was apparently Johan's last and best word on CK, so it would make sense to update your game to that version IMHO.
