Hi,

Damn, the seach feature here is so complicated I give up looking for it and I surely ask something that has already been explained.

I just look at some screenshots of CK, and the displays are much more pretty than on my PC
My pc is a new one, up to date with the latest everything.

I wonder if the trouble cames from the graphic resolution as my display is on 1440*900

Can I change that ingame ?

If not, maybe I can change my own display, which is the graphic resolution used by CK ? 1024*768 ?

Thanks for your help

The original CK's resolution cannot be modified¹. It runs in 1024*768*16.

If you have Deus Vult, you can change the game's resolution to anything supported by your monitor by editing the file settings.txt in the root install folder.

¹There is a hacky way to change the resolution for the original CK by hex editing, but this also requires you also edit some graphics. See this thread combined with this post for the hack, and see here for modified graphics files for the 1280x1024 resolution. For other resolutions you will need to make your own edits. You need a startup image in the proper resultion, and extend the toolbar image down to avoid screen tears.

The easiest and best way to play CK in a higher resolution is obviously to get DV... worth it in any case.

Well ... I have DV, so I only have to change the file settings.txt ?
Great ! I'll try it right now :))

Making CK:DV play in 1280x960 by altering the settings file squashes the loading and scenario screens and compresses the font size and suchlike. It also doesn't recentre the menus. Is there a way to make it play with the same relative proportions, but in 1280x960?

The text is definitely smaller though, to the point where I almost have trouble reading it. I've never had this problem with any other games in 1280x960 resolution. The dialogue boxes are also completely off-centre.

The banner provided in the gfx zip works fine, but the map file puts a black block in front the news scroller at the bottom, making a large part of it unreadable.

wooo ! It is really nice now !
Before that, every sprite was stretched to hell.
I should have change it earlier !
I'm discovering a new game now :)

By the way, I tried to register my CK game
(I thought I made it last year but it don't appear under my avatar.)

I bought the CK complete pack in 2009, but I don't find any register number in it.
Was there a notice book in it ? I could have lost somewhere ?
Or the registering number is on the CD ?

Thanks for your help.

Err... do not use the graphics file in DV. It is for CK only... DV does not need graphics edits to work in a higher resolution. Thought I made this clear.

CK complete cannot be registered, you can only register the Deus Vult expansion pack if this is directly bought from Gamersgate.

Too bad ...
ok, never mind, thank you

After experimentation, I gathered that using the graphics pack was a bad idea. I still wish that the text was bigger, so that I could 1280x960 as easily as the default.
