To simulate communication networks and long distance correspondence during the middle ages feels like it would have to be a core feature of the game to be worth spending any development resources on. The payoff for such a large system seems small and to many players it would (as stated before) be perceived as a hindrance to their gaming experience.

Although i am not at all against the idea as a game in itself. Something like "medieval courier network simulator 1060 AD" would be interesting...

It can be tricky sometimes indeed. AI loves attacking you in your back when you are at war already, of course such news should reach you, your response time could be simulated by the travelling back to home if you actually decide this, your family or regent -if not a traitror- should bdeal about immediate decision about the threat upon your family.

About knights in CK3, they are your (best) fighters, i hardly see them not crusading or warring with you. Your councillors or regent should take care of home and family.
Yeah you are right.
But about the knights, yes you would bring almost all knights with you, but if I was King I would like to leave a trusted knight or two, commanding a small loyal guard, just in case, to protect the Queeen and children. They would advice her but ultimately follow her orders, unless I, the King, have told them otherwise before my departure.
And I will make sure they get their due honours when I get back xD I like this prospect.

Imagine having to keep track of every single character in the game from every single court at every point in time. This seems much more complex and resource intensive than the current system. Is it worth it to increase the processing strain of the game for the sake of something so tiny?
Doesn't the game sort of already do this, in certain respects? CK2 tracked character locations, with counselors being able to fall ill due to diseases in the province they were assigned to, etc. All that sounds like is being requested (for the more modest proposals, which I back, rather than the more extensive ones proposed on occasion above, such as communication delays, etc.!) is a sort of cooldown when being returned to the home court, rather than instantly returning, and a request to disable some events due to making no sense in context (ex. events about resolving disputes in one's demense while off crusading, etc.), which should be easily resolved with a few more checks. Mind, I could easily be wrong, but I don't see how either would be that much more a strain on the system than CK2's extant system is.
