Characters not getting given a family name

Hh there,

Some of my Characters do not seem to be getting given a family name.

I am playing as Rome, so naming for men is Firstname Surname Nickname. For women is it just Surname Nickname.

Some (but not all) of my characters are not getting given Surnames, so their names are becoming Firstname Nickname (note the double space where the Surname should be). These characters seem to be inheriting their Family from their mother rather than their father, which I assume might be causing the problem. It seems to happen more often to my characters who are intermarrying with the Greeks in my empire.

This is not a major bug, but is a bit annoying... Anyone got any ideas?

I can confirm this. Characters appear in the ledger with names like

(blank), Quintus (Tertius)

or even with several blanks

it does appear worse with natural-born characters as opposed to random-generated ones
