Cheat codes ?

I'm sorry to pollute your Mod forum with my request, but I did not believe that I could ask my question in the Tech Support section.

I would like to play a minor country. The problem, then, is the very restricted funds one starts with and the very slow financial progress.

I used Google to try to find a money cheat-code for ROME, and I only found one reference.

It said to type ALT + 21 (on the numeral pad), then the word CASH, to get 5000 more money.

I tried that in various manners and it did not produce any result whatsoever.

Are there any working cheat-codes for ROME ?

Please understand that I do not wish to have an easy game by abusing a cheat. My goal is to play a minor country and have a decent chance of being reasonably competitive with the Big Boys (or the medium guys).

For example. I started the game as Syracuse (Eastern Sicily). Carthage immediately declared war, and a few turns later, landed a lot of troops in Western Sicily. All the while, Rome was building troops next to me, across the Messina strait. With the poor treasury I had started with and the poor financial growth I could have, it was obvious that there was nothing much I could do, caught in a Carthage/Rome sandwich (two countries that did not like me from the start).

I'm not interested in playing a major power. I don't mind being the underdog, as long as I have a decent chance of being minimally competitive. As it is now, I have tried a few minor countries, and the very low cash-flow appears to be extremely restrictive.

I used this cheat and it works. it should say Alt+2+1 wait then a console command in the lower left should come up. make sure to have numlock on when using those keys. yes, at first I didn't think it would work but it did. you can also get stability +3 by typing in the word "stability" without quotes.

Is the console coming up when you press alt 21? If not, you hold alt and then type 21 on the keypad. Then type cash (it work in lower case, never tried in capitals) and press enter. It does work, in both the demo and retail.

After reading your replies, I again tried the ALT/2+1 combo, and this time, the console did appear, after a wait of a few seconds.

I think I was too impatient in my first tries, and kept pressing the combo like a fast, furious and frantic StarCraft maniac.

A little patience did the trick.

Now, I'll select some minor country and I'll have a decent financial chance of having it survive and thrive, even if it never becomes an empire to rival Rome.

On Norse keyboards (Paradox is based in Sweden, I believe) § (Alt + 21) is a regular key, and so no different than the more common ~ used in other games.
Careful not to let ethnocentrism get the better of you.
