I seem to be getting a lot of these even pop-ups, so much so I have to foster off my dynasty's children as early as possible. Apart from having educational buildings and high stat ruler/advisers, what other ways are helpful?

I believe they get these events no matter where they are :) ... it is part of DVIP's aim to lower the overall stats, so it is not common to have 14-20 in multiple stats.

edit: and just in case you are wondering ... yes, the AI get these too.

I got a "this child is crap at court education" event when my (at the time, my only) son was 12 sent him to the army (his total stats were something like 8/9/10/9 or so at the time, he graduated as a brilliant strategist with total stats 23/6/4/12 or something (check my AAR-the Glamorgan one for details, can't remember exactly). So he got the lowering event for a couple of stats, but ended up pretty great anyway.

I've had it happen to loads of kids in my court, wondered about it initially too, but apparently the bottom reason is indeed to prevent DV from giving everyone way better stats than was the norm in vanilla. Event optimisations etc. are for the old averages, so expect to see this event a lot for any teenagers with (excessively) high stats you may have in your court.

You should still get enough good courtiers. My son got a random-generated martial 17 guy and appointed him martial after I gave him his own county to rule. You don't want to mess with them...

If anything the events don't fire enough...

anyway the goal is to keep stats closer to the intended range so the game keeps working as is intended (countless events and other factors depend on base stats being in the range ~1-10, not ~10-20). The main issue with them is that they are immersion breaking in their current form: I have yet to find a wording for the event that will make it seem less out of place.

@Snaake: the events that force kids to change education tracts are different ones, from the BoPack mod. These generally allow you to move a kid to another tract or accept the worst possible outcome in his current one.

Well the 23 martial son only had base martial of 7 or so at age 12 though I think, but he must've gotten a couple of plusses after that.

Ah, it's from BoPack. What's also confusing about them is that the wording claims the child is bad at the current track, whereas i've had it fire for kids in the right education for their stats.

I think it might also depend on their traits as well. Although I could be wrong.
