Hi, I'm thinking of starting an AAR writting in 'sheets' of paper like background and capturing the images exclusively, inserting images, etc... I'm currently pondering about which font to use, and I have come up with some ones. I have put up the same text with the different fonts, so you can judge. Most fonts but the Uncial one are in bold, since I felt the trace was too thin to fit well on the paper type background, and the font size is adjusted so the whole text will fit.

Please tell me what you think... and if you would like to propose another font just do so.

Carolingian style:

Smoothed carolingian style:

Uncial:

Smoothed uncial style (semi-uncial):

Smoothed gothic style (the full gothic type is the one is the one used for the tittle, and I know for sure it would be just too difficult to read if used for the whole text):

I concur with Capitan, the smoothed Carolingian miniscul is the easiest on the eye. If you are going to write it in Spanish, give me some warning, I can dig out my old textbooks....

I'm going to split with the group and say Uncial, it strikes me as a good balance between "medievalness" and readability.

Oh, and if you do it in Spanish (which I think you should), be sure to provide a translation so we can enjoy both a wonderful medieval-looking document, and at the same time a good AAR. :)

The poor Carolingian scribe who first invented the minuscul will be weeping in his graving. Spinning being too much excercise for such a learned gentleman.

my vote goes to Smoothed gothic style (i'm pretty wicked, you know...)

:rofl:

Thanks for the advice :) It seems people are more balance about this.

I will write it both in English and Spanish. I still have not even chosen the country, I'm waiting for 1.05, or to check that the beta is stable enough or corrected enough for my porpouse (for example, I would not choose 1187 scenario until they fix Saladin).

Right now, I think I would go:

Celtic/Anglosaxon dinasty -> smoothed uncial font (with tittles in big Uncial)
Frankish/German dinasty -> smoothed gothic font
Italian/Occitan/Catalan/Castillian/French/Norman dinasty -> smoothed carolingian.

I don't discard doing first a test run with an AAR only based on the life of a single character, though.
