This is to discuss my Cim Route Tracker mod

Link to mod

Update 6:
new version is now published, with these features:

* Highlight routes of all objects en-route to the selected building
* Highlight routes all of passengers when clicking a public transit vehicle (transit support is still experimental)
* Added in-game overlay menu to easily turn highlighting options on/off

Mod Description:
This mod attempts to bring CS2 closer to CS1's traffic route overlay tools, as well as some additional features around employee/residence/student highlighting.

This mod highlights:
* Current routes and destinations for selected cim/vehicle and its passengers
* Active incoming routes to a selected building
* The residences for employers at a selected workplace
* The workplaces for residences at a selected residential building
* The residences for students at a selected school

Update 5: Route displaying of selected citizens inside vehicles; Added options menu

Update 4: Added lane-level highlighting, and different colors for car vs pedestrian route segments

Update 3: Published experimental route pathfinding highlighting; renamed mod

Update 2: (WIP) Made progress on dynamic pathfinding route display (video/images in latest post); will try to polish the UX and publish it. I'll also rename the mod because it's no longer only tracking employees.

Update 1: added vehicle passenger destination highlighting, and building resident workplace highlighting.

Next tasks:
* Address the above-mentioned issues
* Allow highlighting routes through intermediate path nodes
* Highlight residence of parked cars.

Looks useful, will need to try this during my next session. It would be nice if multiple buildings could be selected (i.e., a bunch of industry buildings, for example) to get an idea of where most of those employees live for the purpose of optimizing transportation (i.e., bus line, direct roads, etc.).

Amazing. To add to Kerp25's comment, if we could, say, have a marquee selection of buildings, or select all buildings in a district, it'd be perfect. Anyways, thanks for making this!

Thanks for the suggestions. It will take me a bit of time to figure out how to select more than one building at a time, but I will try. In the meantime, I just pushed an update that highlights vehicles' passengers' destinations and the workplaces for a selected residence (example screenshot of selecting a train).

Thanks. I've made some progress with real-time pathfinding route display. Once I confirm it is accurate and stable (along with some UI improvements), I will publish an update with it.

Wow, great idea.
Really interesting visualization.
When Selecting a Public Transport Vehicle not all destinations where highlighted, in my instance it was a specialized Cotton Industry which was not highlighted, is that intended?

A Bus with 5 Occupants (maybe one dog), but only one destination was highlighted and when they got out of the bus, there was one that had the destination of the mentioned Cotton Industry

yey ! :)
a bit weird look, I guess i'm used to those colorful paths from CS1, but yeah... Thank you very much :)

Can you make a mod that allows us to control road names? this was in CS1 but sadly, that feture hadent returned. like being able to control where and what types of roads are named
