I bought Cities in Motion off of Steam for the mac release and when I start up my game, I get through the Colossal and Paradox intros, I hear music and then the game crashes. I need ideas on how I can get this resolved. Thanks.

i have the same problem , the game switches on and works fine, i can start the campaign , but when i click the screen it stops responding and the music keeps playing , it dosent even crash , i have to reboot my computer , also got it from steam on mac. Please Help, Thank You.

I also have this issue.

Playing immediately after downloading the game from Steam, I saw the problem as observed by JohnFozzy: I saw the initial screens with the developer logos, heard a brief phrase of music and then the game crashed.

Trying again after a reboot, I see the problem as observed by Quit. The game loads as far as pressing the 'Play' button once the campaign has loaded, then crashes.

Could you give some details about your systems.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. The system requirements for the Mac version were not published at the same time than the version, but they are now working on it. Unfortunately the Mac version requires the same amount on RAM than the Windows version, and I'm afraid it means that eudaemonia's system doesn't have enough RAM.

Again, I'm very sorry that the system requirements are not out yet. I will post them here asap.

The game requires more than 8gb of RAM? o_O The system requirements for both pc and mac on steam are 2gb...

I think they are referring to the amount of GPU RAM. You have 256 on your GT330 whereas the game needs 512. (For what reason I don't know.) It's times like this where I'm glad I bought the 2010 i7 Macbook Pro over the i5 (the only real difference between a little faster processor and a 512 GT330) but it does strike me as an odd requirement.

Yea, obviously co_martsu was referring to Video RAM which is required to be 512MB.

Also, for the people crashing, are you CMD+Tabbing the game during loading? Switching the process requires GL to reupload some video data and can cause the running out of memory faster.
On my MBP I seem to be able to reproduce (inconsistently) a crash when CMD+Tabbing the game while it runs on the 9400M card (if i never CMD+Tab, I can playing the game normally), however, if I set it on High performance mode, it will use the 9600GT and there is no issues anymore. So it looks a lot like a driver issue (especially that only the GPU crashes, the CPU keeps running the game in the background).
So for all people with dual graphics card in their laptop, make sure to set the Power Save options to Higher Performances so the decent graphics card is in use and not the lower-end one.

Sorry for the confusion, I was indeed referring to the GPU RAM :)

have sam problems

Hi there,

i can see both logos at the starting to and after that only a black screen. On the second start i can see the menu and select city and so on. After loading i get a black screen again and crash...

System:
MacPook Pro 13,3
I2D 2.16 GHz
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 9400M
10.6.7

Regards,
Rotze

EDIT: ok, i changed now the graphics settings, now it works... strange...

Oooh anti-aliasing chews up video memory, since the card is basically rendering the scene at 2x / 4x /8x (etc) the resolution internally to get rid of the jagged edges.

Thankfully I manage to avoid the whole driver switching issue by having my MBP hooked up to an external monitor, which forces the GT330 card to run at all times. Performance still isn't all that great though. However, I would have thought that CIM would always trip the switch for OSX to switch to the discrete graphics card, since I thought it automatically detects calls to 3D games?

As far as I understand it, switching the card requires to log out and in (as required when changing the powersave mode). I'm not sure the card can be switched on the fly with OSX.

I think that limitation went away with the second generation of switchable graphics (or at least was removed through updates to OSX.) I use a neat little program called gfxCardStatus to manually switch between the cards though.

Hmm, interesting, I have Snow Leopard with the latest update and I have no choice but log out and in if i change the powersave mode. Maybe it's not because of the gfx card though :)

My mac is Crashing all the time, i can play it for a little time and then it crashes i can play it if i save all the time but it is very annoy.
I hope that there will come an update
And is my system requirements ok?
And i have turned all grafik setting to minnimum.
