Cities of the future - TED talk

Hello guys, I'm posting this here because it could get some ideas for a mod - I know we not even have the game in hands to play - or at least something to think about.

This video is a TED talk, by Enrique Peñalosa, former mayor of Bogotá. He suggests some ways to think about building smart cities of the future.

I'm not asking for any change on this awesome game that we are all looking forward to play, but I think these kind of cities would be beautiful in-game and some of his suggestions could bring more nice stuff to this game.

I do like the idea of more pedestrian focused path's that could maybe have a bike lane alongside. I think that a full on bus only network would be a very difficult thing to add.

We need Bus only streets!
And Streets with Bus lines in the middle of the street, like trams. A feature that even Cities in Motion lacked.

Agreed. I would like to see roads with bike lanes running along the side of them as well. Where I live, we have them along with sidewalks. Hopefully, if not added in the main game, modders (or myself if I decide to dive into modding this game) can add them in relatively easily, given that the tools released by Colossal Order/Paradox will be easy to use for some people.

Although SimCity was a disappointment one of the things I did love about it was the Cities of Tomorrow expansion, just seeing all of the buildings upgrade into this TRON/Judge Dredd/The Fifth Element style of architecture - the roads taking on that tiled texture - cars upgrading into these hover/hybrid type vehicles. I don't know why but it was just so awesome to see the city become this gargantuan (as simcity allowed) city of future technology.

The details in that expansion were astonishing, down to the light-poles taking on a more future-like model, police cars and ambulances upgrading into more sci-fi designs.

As far as I know, part of the Greenways are already possible by simply leaving some space inside the blocks and filling it with grass, trees, etc. The only think needed with a mod, are the paths/ways itself, to place there and get the Cims walking there or riding their bikes.

I agree. That would be awesome, but probably this needs a much more effort. Maybe, it's no even possible with a mod.
