Cities: Skylines (Steam) - new game crashes on startup on ubuntu

new game crashes on startup on ubuntu

What is your game version?
1.10.0-f3

What expansions do you have installed?
Parklife, Industries

What mods are you using?
none

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Have just install cities Skylines on fresh steam install on Ubuntu 22. I've played Cities Skylines on this laptop on windows and although slow it has run. I know there have been various updates to graphics recently and was interested in trying it again. The loading spinner gets to 3/4s the way and then stops and nothing for 10 mins and then crashes to desktop if I leave it long enough.

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
does it everytime I've tried to play. I've tried various graphics settings in options including the lowest settings. I've tried proton and various versions. I've tried deinstalling cities skylines and resintalling and same issue. I've hunted on the web for people having similar issues and none of those seem to work.

Im not sure what I've done. I'd tried switching to proton 7.0-6 but I'd also noticed some thread talk about NTFS drives which made me realise I'd not mounted my second drive. As soon as I'd done these two things Cities Skylines is now working.
