Road Editor – Matching Textures Help -- RESOLVED

What is your game version?
1.9.1

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Hi all…

Looking for some help from any modders/asset builders who have some experience of re-texturing roads and matching them to the built-in roads.

I have successfully built all the required meshes, and imported the textures, the new roads look great, however I have an issue when connecting them to existing roads. The connecting nodes have an overlay that looks washed out.

Looking at the information on skylines wiki, there are two addition textures required.

The list includes the following:

diffuse (_d, RGB)
normal (_n, RGB)
specular (_s, grayscale)
alpha (_a, grayscale)
pavement map (_p, grayscale)
road map (_r, grayscale)

There is very little information on how to use these two additional texture files.

Has anyone successfully used these ‘maps’ ?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Example: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1223964751

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.

Hello, I see you've marked as resolved and saw your comment on SimoG's workshop page, but I'd just like to answer part 2 of your question as you may find it useful. From your picture it seems like you are using custom asphalt and pavement textures - totally fine, but if you want to match them to the built in roads you can use the pavement map and the road map. For both, white areas will use the default map theme textures and black areas will use your custom diffuse textures, and gray areas are anything in between. So using these, for example, you can overlay lane markings and other details over the default asphalt texture (which I think might be useful in your case) and even overlay your own concrete slab lines over the default concrete texture. This way, users are free to choose their own road and pavement textures by changing the map theme. Sometimes I do totally custom road and sidewalk textures, and other times I make them look exactly like the built-in roads. If you like, you can check out my work by searching for 'Urbanist' on the Steam workshop.
