Hello everyone,

I installed Cities Skylines Win 10 Edition German language via Xbox Gamepass Ultimate and the Xbox App on my Windows 10 PC.

The game freezes unregularly. So the music continues to play but regardless what I do no interaction with the game is possible anymore. Only thing I can do is hit CTRL ALT DEL and kill the game.

I already did some research and in this case it's necessary to check the output_log but I can't find that file. The usual infos in the web tell the location for a Steam or direct installation. I already found out that the Xbox App installs the game into programs/windowsapps. After some issues entering that directory (admin permission needed) I finally found the paradox directory but absolutly can't find that file.

Can someone tell me where to find that file for my installation scenario.

The specs of my PC are:
Win 10 Pro 64bit
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3,4ghz
16GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX770

Any help on finding the log or maybe already on what to do to fix these crashes / freezes?

the Xbox App installs the game into programs/windowsapps.

Best to uninstall the game from there, then install it in one of the new locations that MS allows, C\XboxGames or D:\Xbox Apps . Then the game's files are easily accessible.

The game log file is:
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Packages\ParadoxInteractive.81845321AE_zfnrdv2de78ny\TempState\UnityPlayer.log
Please attach it here.

Thanks a lot. Got the file... but I can't find anything that helps me locate the error. Can anyone help? I attached the file.

The only error I see:
An error occurred processing 'C:/Program Files/WindowsApps/ParadoxInteractive.81845321AE_14.2.41626.2_x64__zfnrdv2de78ny/Data/StreamingAssets\Files\Saves'

System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ParadoxInteractive.81845321AE_14.2.41626.2_x64__zfnrdv2de78ny\Data\StreamingAssets\Files\Saves'.
That may be cosmetic (as you've obviously not made any saves yet), but make sure that folder is there and accessible by the game.

But I still suggest you uninstall the game from there, then install it in one of the new locations that MS allows, C\XboxGames or D:\Xbox Apps .

Ok will try that but I in fact have already saved games. Do i lose them when I de-install and change the location of the game?

I just tried deinstalling and reinstalling on a differnt location but the xbox app tells me that for this game the option to select a different installationlocation is not available

The crashes get to annoying... I create a street and do a save. I place a building and do a save. It's unplayable like this.

Does that folder I mentioned, exist? As I said, that error seems to mean either it does not exist (if so, try making it manually) or it exists but the game does not have access to it.

The latter case may be a Windows problem, or an antivirus app getting in the way. You can try setting cities.exe to run as the Windows Admin user.

The folder in fact does not exist. But I also can't create it. As with the explorer I can't access "windowsapps" folder i needed to do a workaround. I started notepad as windows admin and than used the "open file" explorer of notepad to enter that folder. I can move around in the directory but im not allowed to create folders.

Same happens when I try to run the .exe of the game as admin. The option on right click is available but when I do it I get a message that I dont have enough permission to do so.

So is there any option to enter windowsapps folder in the normal windows explorer. Maybe this would give me the options to create the folder or run the .exe as admin.

Additional info:

I managed to get direct access to windowsapps folder via exlorer but this didn't changed my options for creating folders or run the .exe as admin. Both still forbidden.

That is a big problem then. I don't understand why the game will not install elsewhere!

I think you'll need Windows support help on this, I'm afraid, the game must be able to write to that folder for saves to be possible.
