Well, the announcement of CK3 caught me by surprise, for sure...
The map is obviously a step forward but I am not impressed with the rest of the interface (too minimalist, lacking soul) as well as the use of 3D models in events and for characters' faces. Related to events, it means there will probably be less variety in graphics - CK2 with all expansions have 342 different event graphics, I wonder how many will be for CK3 at release. Also, the modders will have much more difficulty in coming up with new stuff related to event graphics thanks to the 3D nature of it.
Regarding the faces it probably means there will be less mods that change that aspect of the game as modelling good faces requires a different, rarer set of skills than present modders have.
As for the content, it is positive Paradox is trying to cover content from most of CK2 DLCs but the axe of Republics and Nomads are not good news. I am biased though, ads I really enjoy playing Republics.
Regarding mechanics, I trust Paradox is going to deliver on what is already very good in CK2.
Final point, as CK2 is my favourite game, I suppose this time I will join the bandwagon and buy it at release date. Hopefully this will not be a I:R type debacle and the game will be much more than a map painter. Also, probably will then mod it since day one.
