Writer of the month?

Would anyone be interested in a writer of the month kind of thing like they do in the other AAR forums?

Sounds like a good idea to me. It would bring more of a community feel to this little corner of the forums.

How does it work?

We could have a thread for nominating the best new AARs for the month. In our case we would have all the new AARs as nominees. We might not ever have enough new AARs monthly and would have to do it by monthly. After the nominees are set we set up a vote. Whoever receives the most votes wins. We then make a thread congratulating the winner and provide a link to the AAR to promote it. I think it'll add more of a sense of community here.

Sounds good. :D

How do we go about organizing it?

Done we will see what developes. I definatly want to do this if it makes sense and would generate some more exposer.

I've talked to some other people and we came to the opinion that a more approprate title would be "AAR showcase of the month, week" as to keep it less competative. The goal should be to shed light on good, interesting or funny AARs not to compete for cyber-glory. What do you all think?

Sounds great! :D I Hope we get it and it has a catchy name! :)

OK, after some discussion and thought, I think we should have a "Showcase of the month." thread. I'd like to do a weekly showcase, but I don't think the forum is that lively yet. The question is how do we organize and come up with a process to decide which AAR to showcase? Should we have a committee decide via PM or debate in another thread? What do you folks think?

To maintain Order, I think only 3 or 5 Persons ( some of the REALLY old guys, that have been here for a long time. Or we could vote for who should be the "Judges".)
Then we could have a thread, (perhaps each month) Where us minor People can Nominee AAR's and talk their case and explain why we think that specific AAR is go great...
Then the "Judges" look them through and decide a winner!
Well, that's only an idea to form such a "monthly AAR". ;)

Sounds what I had in mind. Anyone object to this plan? I want to stress than this will not be a competitive writing thread. I would think that any AAR would be showcased not only for great play or writing but also for effort. Anyone writing on of these things for the first time needs support from us that have done it before. I feel if we don't make this forum a friendly place for new comers that it'll never grow. New people will add to our community making it a livelier place. I think also that everyone should start using the Library update thread to help use find new AARs. Well that stuff being said, who would like to be judges? Just PM me and we'll work it out. Also, we need a catchy name for this little end of the earth.

I personaly love this idea. In fact I would even think that we could take the steps of democracy even further on this idea and perhaps even change up "judges" every now and then so everyone on this forum is able to become involved and express their tastes etc...If we could a Mods input as well thatd be great so we can be sure to stay within the boundaries.

All efforts and all participants afterall have the right to shown appreciation for their dedication to grant themselves ratification and gratification in the face of every faction so lets take action! Can I get an AMEN!

p.s. how about "CrusadARR of the month" sound for a title?
