One line summary of your issue
3.2.2 Beta doesn't start "Failed to create a graphics device"

Game Version
3.2.2 Beta

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I try to start the game through Steam Library and get a
"Failed to create a graphics device
Exiting"
message instead

Steps to reproduce the issue.
INFO:

- Windows 7 64bit
- Radeon RX 570 driver 19.7.1 (july 2019)
Current recommended version by AMD is apparently 19.9.2. I haven't updated yet.
- No dmp file

Renamed the old game files folder and made a fresh installation of the game and rebooted, but no change.

If any other info could be helpful, please ask....and i'll most likely deliver. :p

UPDATE 1:
- Attached picture of another error message below
- I installed the currently recommended GPU AMD driver 19.9.2, rebooted, try to start the game, no change.
- Then i uninstalled the game regularly through Steam (nothing left inside the game files folder after)
and rebooted, installed the game, rebooted, no change
- no dmp files and the log files that get created are empty

UPDATE 2 :
Deleting dbghelp.dll fixed it. Game starts fine.

Another message i get when i start the game directly from inside the folder before the "Failed to.." message pops up.

Hello!

As I wrote in the other thread I would first try updating your driver if there's a newer version available than the one you are using (as updating drivers fixed the same issue for another user).

If that doesn't help if you could try reinstalling the game and letting us know if that changed anything that would be very helpful?

Meanwhile I'll create a ticket for this problem internally and add the information you've given us so far and anything else reported by other players.

Update added with details in the opening post.
Sadly no change..

I suppose that error message picture might help ?

Delete dbghelp.dll, it worked for me. I have no idea what's in it causing the issue, but when you delete that specific .dll everything works fine.

Thanks! Will relay this information to see if there is anything we can do to have other players not have to apply this workaround once 64-bit goes live.

@witzen You're very welcome! I can give you some additional info on my rig so it could help triangulate what the problem is.

If you need anything else, let me know.

- Windows 7 64bit
- Radeon RX Vega driver 19.9.2 (Currently recommended)
- No dmp file was created

I hope it helps!
