One line summary of your issue
Any changes to 00_scripted_triggers results in a crash.

Game Version
3.0

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
If I make any changes whatsoever to 00_scripted_triggers (even just a single line change, for example changing cathar to fraticelli in a decision), the game will crash.

If I copy the file into a mod folder to override it, and make even one change to it, then the game will crash with lots of trigger errors in the logs.

If I make a change directly to the file itself in the CK2 folder, even one line, it will crash the game in the same manner.

I tried creating a file with a different name in my mod folder, and taking some of the triggers from 00_scripted_triggers, copying them into the new file, and then altering them. This results in the game loading without issue, but does not appear to override the entries for the triggers that I changed, from the original file. This happens when the file is named such as it would load both before the original alphanumerically, or after the original alphanumerically.

If I make a copy of 00_scripted_triggers, and drop that copy in a mod override folder, and make absolutely no changes to it, then the game will load without issue.

At this point I don't know what else to do but to make a bug report. It seems to me that it's impossible to make a change of any kind to 00_scripted_triggers. I don't know if this is known behavior, a new problem since Holy Fury, or what.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Just make a change of any sort (I added an additional religion to some of the triggers that take cathar into account; a duplicate entry that simply names the new religion, fraticelli in this case, as being considered in the same way cathar is).

Seemingly, even one line or one entry anywhere in the file that should otherwise be valid, will cause the issue.

For those that care, I have discovered I can make my changes in the relevant jobs or minor titles that use some of the triggers in 00_scripted_triggers. For example, making changes to who can be made a commander.

It would be easiest of course to change the requirement that the commander job has called "female_can_hold_commander_trigger", in scripted triggers. Especially for triggers that are used for multiple job/title eligability, so that you only have to make your changes in one spot in the files. But, doing so crashes the game, as mentioned above.

What I can do though, is add my additional statements to the commander job itself in the "minor_titles" file (or any other additional positions that use one of the trigger conditions to determine eligability for a character). So, alongside that "female_can_hold_commander_trigger" example statement would come my additional conditions. For example adding in AND/OR statements to allow for females of a new religion that isn't usually able to appoint female commanders, without requiring full gender laws, or game rules (like the Cathar religion can do normally, despite those settings for the most part).

After continued experimenting I can report no success with scripted triggers (aside from a work around I mentioned above).

I've also messed with a few other files and found none that crash when changes are made in the manner in which 00_scripted_triggers does (though there may be others, CK2 has a lot of files afterall).

As far as I can tell, this remains an issue in version 3.1.1

Pretty annoying, I so wish I could change a thing or two in this file, rather than say changing all of the council jobs individually. Alas...

Just an FYI if this matters to anyone, but at the moment this appears to be fixed in 3.2.0! Yay! Thank you Paradox, SO much more convenient than the alternatives.

I would mark this thread as resolved, but I get an error when I click that button up there.
